the third release on the emergent dreamtime label finds bobby bricks and miskotom sharing precious wax space with their own takes on laid back balearic house. bricks is up first, laying down a laid back house chugger propelled by fluttering synth lines that have spent time soaking up plenty of vitamin d. amazon blue does away with the drums for much of the tune, letting the new age synth tones do all the work before a mellow set of percussion comes loping in. miskotom has a more nocturnal feel at work on star master, but it s no less plush in its execution, while ad lucem ramps up fretless bass licks and plastic flute tones for another blissful excursion onto the astral plane.

there arent many artists that can lay claim to having put out records on labels as divergent as rough trade and john talabot�s hivern discs. perhaps this is because few artists express such genuine diversity in their musical tastes and creative explorations as david kitt. since the turn of the decade as new jackson he has mined a seam of driving, ghostly house to run parallel with his solo strand of ambient folk electronica. his debut release in 2011 the night mail on pogo channeled early record collection heroes aphex twin and orbital through to drexciya and projekt pm but had one foot firmly in the 21st century beaming in like some futuristic cyberballad. on the flip side hussle free had that mix of house and boogie sensibilities with dark and dusty synths and vocoder that would become a signature. this was followed by acclaimed releases on hivern, permanent vacation, major problems, apartment and most recently cin cin. his debut album set for release on all city in may was recorded in kitt�s bedroom studio overlooking dublin bay, its nocturnal hues very much a product of the nightshift often working on headphones with the rest of his housemates fast asleep. it takes full advantage of the scope of the lp format, ebbing and flowing between deep house club ready gems and more restrained and meditative beatless moments for the morning after. the recording process yielded many eureka moments with kitt finally nailing sounds that had hitherto proved elusive. a key moment was getting a bank loan to buy an sp 1200 sampler

22.02.85 is the new album from bastien keb. initially conceived as a concept album about a stripper lost in the city (like a straight-to-video follow up to showgirls), 22.02.85 has a distinctly nocturnal edge to it. the city at night, lost in a crowd, abandoned petrol stations, empty kebab shops, broken florescent lights. like a half-forgotten dream, familiar yet unnerving. he says all the songs are all about girls apart from two about a big lug. you may catch a phrase here and there but the context is all in the feel: there s a melancholy edge, but i don t wanna depress people. sad but hopeful? if that s possible.

off the back of their first ep release, super fun bumper editions trends, which received support from the likes of xl8r, thump, future classic, and bradley zero, beats of no nation is now gearing up for its second release by the chord memory band. chord memory band is a recent collaboration between michael medlycott (from the band vulture street tape gang) and dom bird (bonn co-founder and member of the live disco 4 piece mitzi). at the end of 2016, michael and dom caught wind of a cave, nestled beneath a sacred mountain, deep in the australian outback. the rumours described a cave filled with nocturnal animals and ancient flora, but more importantly, a stash of vintage synthesizers and drum machines. guided by whispers and caught up in the mystic mystery of it all, the duo set off with a dusty four-track tape recorder in an attempt to capture these mythical cave vibes and place them on a record. michael and dom surfaced several months later, with four recordings and no memory of what had occurred. these recordings became their synergistic third eye ep � an analogue journey into the spiritual world, with one simple message, the answer is inside.

following the recent release of so low, a compilation of early �80s synth, industrial and cold wave classics and undiscovered gems curated by optimo�s jd twitch aka keith mcivor, the vinyl factory are set to release specially commissioned remixes of two tracks on the 16-track compilation by rising uk producer powell and hamburg�s helena hauff. powell�s pneumatic sound is perfectly suited to �49 second romance� by german minimalists p1/e, which he deftly deconstructs, while hauff adds glistening synths to belgian electro-industrial group the klinik�s �moving hands� for a driving, nocturnal version.

amir alexander was one of plan b recordings� first recruits. from his first submission, we knew his sound was perfect for plan b recordings. �sonic subversion� was released as a digital ep in 2010 and now receives a proper vinyl release. we feel these tracks sound even better now. their content is as timeless as ever. they have been slightly tweaked and re-touched by amir for this release, making them perhaps even more sonically powerful than the originals. three tracks of bubbly, banging goodness from one of our earliest comrades.
